So, for my sons 6 month pictures I decided to make a Chalkboard backdrop.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-4Zvphwm-IRE/TaOtzz65-uI/AAAAAAAAExo/ivHeIptPwL8/s1600/boardname.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 316px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-4Zvphwm-IRE/TaOtzz65-uI/AAAAAAAAExo/ivHeIptPwL8/s400/boardname.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5594506267746499298" border="0" /></a>I went to the local hardware store and picked up a 3 feet by 4 feet board. Mine happened to be whiteboard material on one side. So I took it home and painted the opposite side with chalkboard paint.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-JNQ4VVkuD1I/TaOtzqVyO2I/AAAAAAAAExg/OhxoekBpR_0/s1600/boardpainting.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-JNQ4VVkuD1I/TaOtzqVyO2I/AAAAAAAAExg/OhxoekBpR_0/s400/boardpainting.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5594506265174883170" border="0" /></a>It was that easy just a couple of coats of paint and I had a double sided photo backdrop.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-qdIt1bvpm50/TaOtzQHRExI/AAAAAAAAExY/PUKMeh4Q0Ac/s1600/boardstats.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 309px; height: 400px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-qdIt1bvpm50/TaOtzQHRExI/AAAAAAAAExY/PUKMeh4Q0Ac/s400/boardstats.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5594506258134668050" border="0" /></a>I use it to write stats on so I can remember how big he was and specific milestones he had reached. I also used it for the backdrop of my crocheted bracelets found <a href="http://mommycreations.blogspot.com/2011/02/new-favorite-pass-timecrochet-hearts.html">here</a> and I used the white side as a backdrop <a href="http://mommycreations.blogspot.com/2011/02/more-crocheting-bow-ties-and-headbands.html">here</a>.<br /><a href="http://mommycreations.blogspot.com/2010/09/tuesday-wednesday-thursday-friday.html"><br />Linking here</a>Jessica Sorensenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18030863451272146572noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6307605209332536414.post-55573834930459447072011-04-05T14:30:00.002-05:002011-04-05T15:08:40.841-05:00Easter Bunny Egg HatI know I promised more of the Dora party details, but we are a little Dora out over here so we will let birthday party jitters die down a little and turn our gears to Easter with this cute little egg hat.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-nS_jG-VTBl8/TZtuKuQsriI/AAAAAAAAExQ/1KYlQAkhwt0/s1600/egghat1.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 267px; height: 400px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-nS_jG-VTBl8/TZtuKuQsriI/AAAAAAAAExQ/1KYlQAkhwt0/s400/egghat1.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5592184492806417954" border="0" /></a>This little hat is my own pattern and came as a result of me stressing over another project. I use crocheting as a stress reliever. And today it was much needed. So I decided to take a break from the day and finish up another Easter project I had been working on over the weekend. It was an aurigumi bunny and was not turning out how I wanted and I didn't like the pattern much and couldn't find a pattern that I liked any better so I thought hey maybe I could make my own pattern. Well in short a large project is not where I should of started my pattern making career. Trying to create my own pattern with an attention needing 9 month old getting tangled in my yarn was not the stress relief I wanted so I switch to a small easy project that I could practice my pattern making skills and finish in the amount of time it took my baby to finish his lunch. And that is how the Easter bunny egg hat was born.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-6liJSKVyg_s/TZtuKaPKF0I/AAAAAAAAExI/iwQpXZ5V1X0/s1600/egghat2.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 267px; height: 400px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-6liJSKVyg_s/TZtuKaPKF0I/AAAAAAAAExI/iwQpXZ5V1X0/s400/egghat2.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5592184487431247682" border="0" /></a>As I was taking pictures the egg was a little wobbly and I said to myself I wish I had some cute egg holders. So I made my own out of an empty egg carton that I just so happened to have on hand since I was using the last egg to try my little hat on. I just cut 2 wells from the egg carton glued the bottoms together and painted adding a little ribbon in the middle.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-yVNe7WOFgIA/TZtuKJA7MUI/AAAAAAAAExA/eCxY-xY4oG0/s1600/egghat3.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 346px; height: 400px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-yVNe7WOFgIA/TZtuKJA7MUI/AAAAAAAAExA/eCxY-xY4oG0/s400/egghat3.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5592184482808148290" border="0" /></a>Now back to the egg hat (lucky you get a 2 for in today's post). This really took me minutes to create and it is really simple. So here is the pattern for all of you to try out. I used a size G hook and regular worst weight yarn.<br /><br /><b>Base<br /></b>with white<b> </b>ch 2.<br /><b>Rnd 1:</b> Work 6 sc in first chain.<br /><b>Rnd 2:</b> Work 2 sc in each sc around – 12 sc.<br /><b>Rnd 3:</b> *2 sc in next sc, sc in next sc; repeat from * around – 18 sc.<br /><b>Rnd 4:</b> *2 sc in next sc, sc in each of next 2 sc; repeat from * around – 24 sc.<br /><b>Rnd 5-8: </b> Sc in each sc around.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">Ears</span> (make 2)<br />with pink ch 5<br />sc in 2nd at from hook and in each of the next 3 st<br />fasten off switch to white yarn.<br />sc up one side in next 3 st<br />2 dc, ch, tc in next stitch <span style="font-size:78%;">(you will now be at the top of your ear and will start going down the other side of your pink strip)</span><br />tc, ch, 2 dc in next st<br />sc in next 3 st<br />fasten off attach ears to hat base<br /><br />easy enough right? I hope that makes sense if not feel free to ask me questions.<br />dc=double crochet<br />tc=triple crochet<br /><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-JazhsYmeRxQ/TZtuJwb35zI/AAAAAAAAEw4/EIvLpgNieEQ/s1600/egghat4.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 267px; height: 400px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-JazhsYmeRxQ/TZtuJwb35zI/AAAAAAAAEw4/EIvLpgNieEQ/s400/egghat4.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5592184476210292530" border="0" /></a>Oh wait I said I didn't have an egg holder. Like I said I was using my last egg which was not hard boiled and my curios daughter started to play with it when I wasn't looking and cracked it so I headed to my basement to see if I had a plastic egg for her to play with and found this cute little holder that my mom sent me and thought I should include it so I don't get a comment from my mother that I do indeed have an egg holder.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-PPs-_qByj0M/TZtuJmiMv0I/AAAAAAAAEww/5e6eXZuE7ms/s1600/egghat5.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 267px; height: 400px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-PPs-_qByj0M/TZtuJmiMv0I/AAAAAAAAEww/5e6eXZuE7ms/s400/egghat5.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5592184473552469826" border="0" /></a>So go on relieve a little stress and whip up a few little egg hats to put on your Easter eggs.<br /><br /><a href="http://mommycreations.blogspot.com/2010/09/tuesday-wednesday-thursday-friday.html">Linky parties</a>Jessica Sorensenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18030863451272146572noreply@blogger.com14tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6307605209332536414.post-64371979952497150362011-03-06T08:08:00.003-06:002011-03-06T08:23:00.333-06:00Dora AdventuresI have been missing all week I know. My husband was gone interviewing for jobs which is exciting except that means no break for me while he is gone. It is also March which means I am officially in birthday planning mode for my little girl. I did realize that it would be so soon that she would have her own opinion about her birthday party. And since she loves everything Dora (and Diego) we are having a Dora Adventure birthday party. I have it all planned out and spend my week designing party invitations and a pattern for Dora backpacks. The Dora backpack will have to wait a little I wasn't to impressed with my first attempt so we will try again, but here is what I came up with for the invitations.<br /><div style="text-align: center;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-JcxqX5pMJ7M/TXOWoUsSpUI/AAAAAAAAEvo/4kV4BHy0SAA/s1600/dora2b.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 309px; height: 400px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-JcxqX5pMJ7M/TXOWoUsSpUI/AAAAAAAAEvo/4kV4BHy0SAA/s400/dora2b.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5580969982735590722" border="0" /></a>(party details blocked out for reasons I'm sure you understand)<br /><div style="text-align: left;">What do you think? I had so many ideas running around in my head that it stated getting complicated and messy so I simplified it down and got this. I added the "presents not needed" because she does not need anymore toys and things and we are in the process of getting rid of things since we will be moving. Is this the best way to say this. I don't want them to think they can't bring a present if they really want to, but they most definitely do not need to. Any advice would be good. I also think I am going to offer this to people for a small fee (only because it needs to be personalized) if anyone is interested.<br /><br /><a href="http://mommycreations.blogspot.com/2010/09/tuesday-wednesday-thursday-friday.html">Linky parties</a><br /></div></div>Jessica Sorensenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18030863451272146572noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6307605209332536414.post-2175212065908064312011-02-27T21:08:00.003-06:002011-02-27T22:40:20.207-06:00Giveaway winner<dl class="avatar-comment-indent" id="comments-block"><dt class="comment-author " id="c569617268963303901">Ok so this is only like 2 weeks late, but I am finally announcing the giveaway winner. I ate my whole box of chocolates in 2 days not to mention my husband bought 2 big bags of kit kats last weekend that I helped eat. I was out of it today. I was so tired that as soon as I put the baby down for a nap I fell asleep on the couch watching TV with my daughter (both morning and afternoon naps) my daughter watched way too much TV today. Anyways I blame it all on the chocolate. It reminded me of this I {heart} Chocolate dress I made last year after Valentines day.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-odxmDAZKUS4/TVyqyYjH5BI/AAAAAAAAErA/V2iH3-V-tik/s1600/aIMG_3089.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-odxmDAZKUS4/TVyqyYjH5BI/AAAAAAAAErA/V2iH3-V-tik/s400/aIMG_3089.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5574518221337781266" border="0" /></a>I never blogged about it so I guess now is as good of time as any. This dress was made from a clearance t-shirt and 2 skirts from walmart. Both the t-shirt and skirts were to big for my daughter so I cut them down to her size then attached the skirt to the bottom of the t-shirt withthe brown skirt longer than the striped skirt giving it a layered look.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-BTM3DqF2Lzg/TVyqxt4-kUI/AAAAAAAAEq4/Bub6RHHez-g/s1600/aIMG_3068.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 267px; height: 400px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-BTM3DqF2Lzg/TVyqxt4-kUI/AAAAAAAAEq4/Bub6RHHez-g/s400/aIMG_3068.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5574518209886720322" border="0" /></a>It is the perfect dress for my chocolate loving daughter and she still wears it now. Its all knit material giving it a stretch so it has grown with her over the year.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-BRBhiId1N5g/TVyqxkZ-UJI/AAAAAAAAEqw/N5H2cfGhkhk/s1600/aIMG_3075.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 267px; height: 400px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-BRBhiId1N5g/TVyqxkZ-UJI/AAAAAAAAEqw/N5H2cfGhkhk/s400/aIMG_3075.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5574518207340761234" border="0" /></a>I made a simple bow in cordinating brown and red ribbon that can be clipped on a head band.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-D-tO1OFDQkE/TVyqxWswFgI/AAAAAAAAEqo/30iUkY2OgJU/s1600/aIMG_3091.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 267px; height: 400px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-D-tO1OFDQkE/TVyqxWswFgI/AAAAAAAAEqo/30iUkY2OgJU/s400/aIMG_3091.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5574518203661424130" border="0" /></a>or a hat. So look out for clearance clothes as you do your shopping you never know what you can find, even if they aren't the right size. I paid only a dollar for each piece making this dress $3 and about 30 mins. So heres to coming out of the chocolate coma and getting on with my life.<br /><br /><a href="http://mommycreations.blogspot.com/2010/09/tuesday-wednesday-thursday-friday.html">Linking Parties</a>Jessica Sorensenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18030863451272146572noreply@blogger.com10tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6307605209332536414.post-35881480624062465212011-02-14T10:00:00.002-06:002011-02-14T10:24:02.004-06:00Happy Valentines Day!<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-qXhv4s3hk7E/TVlUc7aPMfI/AAAAAAAAEqg/wTRrAiYMxcI/s1600/bIMG_3674.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-qXhv4s3hk7E/TVlUc7aPMfI/AAAAAAAAEqg/wTRrAiYMxcI/s400/bIMG_3674.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5573578869808509426" border="0" /></a>Happy Happy Valentines day to you all. I LOVE valentines. I always have even when I was single. Not that I need a special day to show those around me how much I love them, but its nice to have an excuse to make my loved ones feel extra special. Plus I don't mind the excuse to eat lots of chocolate. I know you must all be sick of my crocheting projects with this pink yarn, but I had to share one more with you. Yesterday morning I was browsing around the log world and came across a blog called <a href="http://easymakesmehappy.blogspot.com/">Easy</a>. I like easy project so I looked around and found <a href="http://easymakesmehappy.blogspot.com/2011/01/crochet-pattern-little-heart-plushy.html">this pattern</a> for a puffy heart so I tried it out and it was easy and super cute.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-7ppVN9MuT9Y/TVlUclWschI/AAAAAAAAEqY/-Zh2V2fjvC8/s1600/bIMG_3677.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-7ppVN9MuT9Y/TVlUclWschI/AAAAAAAAEqY/-Zh2V2fjvC8/s400/bIMG_3677.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5573578863888069138" border="0" /></a>Once I had my cute little heart I didn't know what to do with it, so I attached a simple crochet chain to each side of the heart and made a cute little necklace that my daughter wore to church yesterday (but I forgot to take a picture :() If you still need something special for a special person in your life and you know how to single crochet you can whip up one of these in about 15+ min.Jessica Sorensenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18030863451272146572noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6307605209332536414.post-85440936000902830922011-02-11T14:38:00.003-06:002011-02-11T15:08:29.737-06:00More Crocheting: Bow-ties and Headbands<span style="color: rgb(204, 0, 0);font-size:130%;" >Warning</span>: There is some serious cuteness about to be revealed<br />If you saw my <a href="http://mommycreations.blogspot.com/2011/02/new-favorite-pass-timecrochet-hearts.html">post</a> a couple of days ago you know I have been into crocheting lately. It has been a great stress reliever you should try it. I moved on from the hearts (but I am sure I will go back to them soon) and I moved on to bows. These are even easier than the hearts all you need to know is the basic single crochet and you can make this adorable bow-tie.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-1wfpJwsmMoI/TVWe0RAAQfI/AAAAAAAAEqQ/I2vX7Xh-1oA/s1600/bIMG_3594.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 267px; height: 400px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-1wfpJwsmMoI/TVWe0RAAQfI/AAAAAAAAEqQ/I2vX7Xh-1oA/s400/bIMG_3594.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5572534734694662642" border="0" /></a>I love it and I love my little man. I get to kiss those cheeks everyday.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-X6U-3bgrKb4/TVWe0SDo07I/AAAAAAAAEqI/TTiKAXIx_DQ/s1600/bIMG_3595.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-X6U-3bgrKb4/TVWe0SDo07I/AAAAAAAAEqI/TTiKAXIx_DQ/s400/bIMG_3595.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5572534734978339762" border="0" /></a>For the bow-tie I did 8 rows of single crochet and each row is 18 stitches long. After your last row continue sc around the whole square. The middle piece is 2 rows of 10 stitches. I wrapped the smaller piece around the middle of the bigger piece and tied it in the back. I attached it to a clip and clipped it to his shirt, although it wasn't long before it ended up in his mouth.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-iYmscMwJHls/TVWe0McUM8I/AAAAAAAAEqA/cfJNTcQOiG0/s1600/bIMG_3599.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 267px; height: 400px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-iYmscMwJHls/TVWe0McUM8I/AAAAAAAAEqA/cfJNTcQOiG0/s400/bIMG_3599.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5572534733471232962" border="0" /></a>Then I made a headband for my daughter. For the band I made a chain that would fit exactly around her head. Then I join the chain, chained 2and half double crochet all the way around (you could also just single crochet around a couple of times).<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-G08U4DZsNGs/TVWez_drAQI/AAAAAAAAEp4/-w5I937h6mk/s1600/bIMG_3597.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-G08U4DZsNGs/TVWez_drAQI/AAAAAAAAEp4/-w5I937h6mk/s400/bIMG_3597.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5572534729987260674" border="0" /></a>I made the bow the same way as the bow-tie but slightly smaller and I didn't make a center piece. I decided instead to put the bow on the headband and wrap the yarn around them both several times. I like this look a little better for the hair bow.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-nZ6fJYvQ1xk/TVWezjN6GlI/AAAAAAAAEpw/qka98S8XlRU/s1600/bIMG_3603.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 293px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-nZ6fJYvQ1xk/TVWezjN6GlI/AAAAAAAAEpw/qka98S8XlRU/s400/bIMG_3603.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5572534722404948562" border="0" /></a>Now my kids have their accessories for Valentines day. Gasp! I know I make lots of treats, but some how managed to never try rice crispies. I finally tried it this last Christmas because my husband was missing his moms rice crispy trees that she makes every year. So I sent my husband to the store to buy all the ingredients and he came back with 3 big boxes of Rice Crispy and 5 bags of mini marshmallow. Well 6 weeks later we still had a box of Rice Crispies and a couple bags of marshmellows so I made some Valentines rice crispy treats.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-zAH6h90fpB4/TVQ1edxH27I/AAAAAAAAEpo/QubMFf8QfPg/s1600/aIMG_3173.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-zAH6h90fpB4/TVQ1edxH27I/AAAAAAAAEpo/QubMFf8QfPg/s400/aIMG_3173.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5572137436467157938" border="0" /></a>I died the marshmallow butter mixture with some food coloring to make them pink. Then I topped the treats with some melted chocolate chips. I think all valentine treats need a little chocolate.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-VhVHPtJ07V4/TVQ1eGNoNjI/AAAAAAAAEpg/iiyIsb-BQ7A/s1600/aUntitled-1.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 250px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-VhVHPtJ07V4/TVQ1eGNoNjI/AAAAAAAAEpg/iiyIsb-BQ7A/s400/aUntitled-1.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5572137430144267826" border="0" /></a>They passed the 2 yo test. YUM! I thought the squares were to boring and I wanted to make some heart shaped ones, but I didn't have any molds.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-gmYBrq0oMAI/TVQ1d5I0f0I/AAAAAAAAEpY/PF5nqmwi7qs/s1600/aIMG_3152.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 265px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-gmYBrq0oMAI/TVQ1d5I0f0I/AAAAAAAAEpY/PF5nqmwi7qs/s400/aIMG_3152.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5572137426634440514" border="0" /></a>But I did have these heart ice cube trays. So I greased them up and used them as a mold.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-RrY7bf-WvQk/TVQ1d4XBJDI/AAAAAAAAEpQ/rxvFCrgESjQ/s1600/aIMG_3156.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-RrY7bf-WvQk/TVQ1d4XBJDI/AAAAAAAAEpQ/rxvFCrgESjQ/s400/aIMG_3156.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5572137426425553970" border="0" /></a>It worked and I had bite sized, heart shaped, chocolate dipped, rice crispy treats.<br /><br /><a href="http://mommycreations.blogspot.com/2010/09/tuesday-wednesday-thursday-friday.html">Linky</a>Jessica Sorensenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18030863451272146572noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6307605209332536414.post-81142759631716396122011-02-09T22:17:00.002-06:002011-02-09T22:41:57.428-06:00New favorite pass time:Crochet Hearts<a href="http://mommycreations.blogspot.com/2011/01/csn-stores-giveaway.html"><span style="font-size:180%;">Don't forget to enter my CSN giveaway.</span></a><br /><br />I enjoyed crocheting. My mom taught me to crochet at a young age, but I haven't done it for awhile until I visited my mother a few months ago and we crochets some baby hats. Lately I have enjoyed crocheting these cute hearts.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-QuAzhMx9l04/TVNneqruU1I/AAAAAAAAEoA/rrtgruSLnFY/s1600/bIMG_3527.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 287px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-QuAzhMx9l04/TVNneqruU1I/AAAAAAAAEoA/rrtgruSLnFY/s400/bIMG_3527.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5571910940538852178" border="0" /></a>Aren't they cute? I love them in the variegated pink yarn (sugar n' cream yarn). They are super easy. For my big hearts I used this pattern from Sip to my Lou. For smaller hearts I adjusted the pattern a little and only did two layers instead of 3.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-SHP6xwOlZE0/TVNnefyh-mI/AAAAAAAAEn4/02VeCAMd-6g/s1600/bIMG_3549.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 314px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-SHP6xwOlZE0/TVNnefyh-mI/AAAAAAAAEn4/02VeCAMd-6g/s400/bIMG_3549.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5571910937614613090" border="0" /></a>I used this heart to make a valentine to send to my mother. So simple and easy yet still super cute. One you make a couple hearts you have it down you can whip a bunch out as you sit and watch TV at night. I find it very relaxing. Maybe I found it too relaxing and I ended up with a bunch of hearts and had to figure out how to use them.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-DDO85POmExY/TVNnTxlJ4gI/AAAAAAAAEnw/oZRpa7kE-ig/s1600/bIMG_3541.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 302px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-DDO85POmExY/TVNnTxlJ4gI/AAAAAAAAEnw/oZRpa7kE-ig/s400/bIMG_3541.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5571910753411785218" border="0" /></a>I guess I could use them to make more valentines, but I thought I would try my hand at some braclets. I made 2 different types. One with a thick band and one with a double skinny band.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-C9JAaYIoLt4/TVNnTpSw9gI/AAAAAAAAEno/9T3ZrLcCXhs/s1600/bIMG_3546.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-C9JAaYIoLt4/TVNnTpSw9gI/AAAAAAAAEno/9T3ZrLcCXhs/s400/bIMG_3546.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5571910751187170818" border="0" /></a>For the thick band I chained 35 and then did 2 layers of double crochet. I then added the heart to one end and a button to use to attach the two ends.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-9nGeY8UmsVs/TVNnTZLX74I/AAAAAAAAEng/xxzhZ7A-8Wk/s1600/bIMG_3542.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 361px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-9nGeY8UmsVs/TVNnTZLX74I/AAAAAAAAEng/xxzhZ7A-8Wk/s400/bIMG_3542.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5571910746861203330" border="0" /></a>Cute? I think it almost looks like a heart watch. My daughter pretends its a video watch like Diego (Go Diego Go).<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-bJOK3lZiT_c/TVNnTPFsF7I/AAAAAAAAEnY/SvRYqs5haww/s1600/bIMG_3548.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 365px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-bJOK3lZiT_c/TVNnTPFsF7I/AAAAAAAAEnY/SvRYqs5haww/s400/bIMG_3548.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5571910744153003954" border="0" /></a>For the other bracelet I chained 70 then attached the 2 loose ends to the under side of one of my hearts. Then the loop can be placed over the heart to secure it to your wrist.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ZxwUq_AvFKk/TVNnS3D4B9I/AAAAAAAAEnQ/trJC1teWUIQ/s1600/bIMG_3547.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 308px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ZxwUq_AvFKk/TVNnS3D4B9I/AAAAAAAAEnQ/trJC1teWUIQ/s400/bIMG_3547.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5571910737702946770" border="0" /></a>A more delicate look. Which one do you like better? I sent these 2 to my sisters and will let them fight over who gets which one (I think I know who will pick which one, but we will see). I am currently working on a St. Patrick design and will be giving it away to one or more of my facebook fans if I reach 100 fans. I only need 10 more so become my fan if you want to win one. Also I have 58 follower woo hoo. I am trying to come up with a really good giveaway for when I reach 100 if you have any suggestions let me know.<br /><br /><a href="http://mommycreations.blogspot.com/2010/09/tuesday-wednesday-thursday-friday.html">Linking here</a>Jessica Sorensenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18030863451272146572noreply@blogger.com12tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6307605209332536414.post-82099362276556842512011-02-08T16:02:00.005-06:002011-02-09T22:57:23.001-06:00Bummer and a Brownie<a href="http://mommycreations.blogspot.com/2011/01/csn-stores-giveaway.html"><span style="font-size:130%;">Enter my current giveaway here</span></a><br /><br />First for the bummer. I didn't make it past the first round of <a href="http://naptimecrafters.blogspot.com/2011/02/american-crafter-round-2-let-it-snow.html">American Crafter</a>. It slightly embarrassing getting kicked off the first round, but I wasn't the only one. Five of us got the boot this week and I was only 2 votes away from making the top 10. I would have loved to continue on, but my husband is relieved that I didn't make it. Well what better to soothe my pain of rejection then a nice chocolate brownie.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TVG-e3YDhWI/AAAAAAAAEnA/lDKrAOR3aBI/s1600/IMG_3377b.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 290px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TVG-e3YDhWI/AAAAAAAAEnA/lDKrAOR3aBI/s400/IMG_3377b.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5571443651504211298" border="0" /></a>A heart shape brownie no less. Isn't everything made into hearts this time of year? Have you ever wanted a brownie, but went to your cupboard and had no brownie mix? The old me would have called defeat and given up, but not any more. You may all think I am weird, but I had never made brownies without a mix before. I think I must have thought they were complicated or something. Then one sunday I was telling a friend how I had signed up to make brownies for something that night, but had forgotten to buy a mix. She looked at me and said do you have coco powder. Yes I did. She then wrote down a a short little recipe and handed it to me. How had I never thought of that before. So now we can have brownies whenever we need a chocolate fix. This new found knowledge was probably the most dangerous in my husbands hands (he is a chocoholic).<br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;">1/2 cup melted butter<br />1/2 cup cocoa<br />mix<br />3 eggs<br />2 cups sugar<br />1/2 tsp vanilla<br />mix<br />1 cup flour<br />1 tsp baking powder<br />mix<br />put in 8x8 pan and bake @350 for about 25 min<br /><br /><span style="font-size:130%;">Super easy</span><br /><br />To make into hearts just cut with heart shape cookie cutter. My husband likes to add chocolate chips to make it super chocolaty.<br /></div><br /><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TVHJZqPOw-I/AAAAAAAAEnI/oRb9kAjJUDU/s1600/IMG_3380b.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 333px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TVHJZqPOw-I/AAAAAAAAEnI/oRb9kAjJUDU/s400/IMG_3380b.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5571455656706098146" border="0" /></a><br /><br />All that is left is to eat your<span style="font-size:130%;"> 'heart'</span> out. A little corny, but oh so good.<br /><br /><a href="http://mommycreations.blogspot.com/2010/09/tuesday-wednesday-thursday-friday.html">Linky parties</a>Jessica Sorensenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18030863451272146572noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6307605209332536414.post-91173969291978982992011-02-04T12:00:00.001-06:002011-02-04T13:30:46.053-06:00Be Mine Valentine-American Crafters<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TUtrvvgXuYI/AAAAAAAAEkY/Zpab4n_B9m4/s1600/ac_lovestory.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 267px; height: 400px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TUtrvvgXuYI/AAAAAAAAEkY/Zpab4n_B9m4/s400/ac_lovestory.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5569663832124012930" border="0" /></a>Week one of <a href="http://naptimecrafters.blogspot.com/p/american-crafter.html">American Crafters</a> was Be Mine Valentine. When I found out this weeks theme I immediately thought of 'my valentine'. I was excited, because how often do I craft with my husband in mind? Face it like the rest of my life my crafting revolves around my kids. So I came up with this fun piece inspired by my husband and our love.<br /><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TUtrvYmt3NI/AAAAAAAAEkQ/qqdTnHiePso/s1600/ac_ls1.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 329px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TUtrvYmt3NI/AAAAAAAAEkQ/qqdTnHiePso/s400/ac_ls1.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5569663825976614098" border="0" /></a><br />Do to sickness and the ridiculous amount of snow we have been getting I had to get creative and use only things which I already had (which I'm sure my husband appreciated). My mom has been into mix-media art lately , so I thought I would have a go at it. The background is a piece of cardboard with the wrapping ripped off to expose the corrugation, giving it more texture. Then I just started adding things until I felt it showed my vision.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TUtrPzxyUFI/AAAAAAAAEkI/cG1nZlAZ6b4/s1600/ac_lsquote1.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TUtrPzxyUFI/AAAAAAAAEkI/cG1nZlAZ6b4/s400/ac_lsquote1.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5569663283514986578" border="0" /></a>I used the quote "Every Love Story is beautiful, but ours is my favorite" to create a art peice representing "Our Love Story". I used pictures that will remind us of different chapters in our Love Story.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TUtrPTZQ_mI/AAAAAAAAEkA/WNqHP7RsOYQ/s1600/ac_lsquote2.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TUtrPTZQ_mI/AAAAAAAAEkA/WNqHP7RsOYQ/s400/ac_lsquote2.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5569663274822205026" border="0" /></a>I used lots of different media including crochet, paper, material, and even scabble letters.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TUtrO8DV9hI/AAAAAAAAEj4/4M0kUuPHrO8/s1600/ac_lskey.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TUtrO8DV9hI/AAAAAAAAEj4/4M0kUuPHrO8/s400/ac_lskey.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5569663268556240402" border="0" /></a>I love vintage valentines they seem so romantic. My husband definitely holds the key to my heart.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TUtrOVnHEXI/AAAAAAAAEjw/EDAHs2IsCnY/s1600/ac_lsbirds.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TUtrOVnHEXI/AAAAAAAAEjw/EDAHs2IsCnY/s400/ac_lsbirds.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5569663258237276530" border="0" /></a>This is my favorite section. I just love the little birds aren't they so cute? I added a clothes pin where my husband and I can put love notes to each other. Those flowers are made out of crepe paper. I love it you can make tons of flowers out of one roll of crepe paper that costs $1 for a 2 pack at the dollar store.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TUtrN5GMlAI/AAAAAAAAEjo/zEjAxqrCm7A/s1600/ac_lspompom.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TUtrN5GMlAI/AAAAAAAAEjo/zEjAxqrCm7A/s400/ac_lspompom.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5569663250583032834" border="0" /></a>I paired it with these cute yarn pom poms. They didn't all turn out this good, but I got more than half of them to turn out so I say it was a success.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TUt-h88tBaI/AAAAAAAAElY/-X6p9dKW864/s1600/b_fortunes.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TUt-h88tBaI/AAAAAAAAElY/-X6p9dKW864/s400/b_fortunes.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5569684485935269282" border="0" /></a>Today is also my birthday. My husband had class so I arranged a girls night out. It was also 3 of my friends birthdays this week so I put little birthday notes in the fortune cookies for them.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TUt-CQxWlUI/AAAAAAAAElA/-G9ARYINuVI/s1600/b_fcdough.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TUt-CQxWlUI/AAAAAAAAElA/-G9ARYINuVI/s400/b_fcdough.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5569683941500556610" border="0" /></a>I <a href="http://allrecipes.com//Recipe/fortune-cookies-iii/Detail.aspx">used this recipe</a> but I used vanilla instead of almond extract and light cream instead of heavy cream, only because that is what I had on hand not because I was trying to be healthy or anything. The hardest part about these is that you can only make 2 at a time so even thou it only takes 8 mins it takes a lot longer to make a whole batch.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TUt-Bz99Q5I/AAAAAAAAEk4/hfgDkevpS20/s1600/b_fcshape.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 314px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TUt-Bz99Q5I/AAAAAAAAEk4/hfgDkevpS20/s400/b_fcshape.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5569683933768795026" border="0" /></a>I used a cupcake tin to hold the shape. Like I said they didn't all turn out. You can't cook them too long or they are too crispy, but if you don't cook them long enough they are too soft. And if you get the cooking time right you have to make sure you fold them up fast enough. Practice makes perfect.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TUt-BW4GXMI/AAAAAAAAEkw/91-5jFJ_UI4/s1600/b_fcchocolate.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TUt-BW4GXMI/AAAAAAAAEkw/91-5jFJ_UI4/s400/b_fcchocolate.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5569683925959597250" border="0" /></a>And if they aren't perfect you can always cover them in chocolate.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TUt-AmSMmeI/AAAAAAAAEko/R4N3fd_tZUw/s1600/b_fcinbox.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TUt-AmSMmeI/AAAAAAAAEko/R4N3fd_tZUw/s400/b_fcinbox.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5569683912915720674" border="0" /></a>I found these cute valentines take out boxes at target.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TUt-AdtAcPI/AAAAAAAAEkg/IfsbzEmzxmE/s1600/b_boxes.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 226px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TUt-AdtAcPI/AAAAAAAAEkg/IfsbzEmzxmE/s400/b_boxes.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5569683910612250866" border="0" /></a>And these little ones at the dollar store. The little ones only fit one big fortune cookie or 2 little ones which is perfect for a little valentine (or birthday) treat. I made some special ones for my husband. After making my <a href="http://mommycreations.blogspot.com/2011/01/tulle-pom-pom-balls-tutoial.html">tulle pom poms</a> I have been on a pom pom kick so I decided maybe I could make some yarn pom poms look like flowers. So I pulled out my yarn stash and started making yarn pom poms to see what would make the best flowers.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TUnzlnk73bI/AAAAAAAAEjI/SwfXkPTtRh4/s1600/b_2yarns.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TUnzlnk73bI/AAAAAAAAEjI/SwfXkPTtRh4/s400/b_2yarns.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5569250241824939442" border="0" /></a>The first two were similar. Skinny yarn with some bulkiness every once in a while. I didn't like how they turned out. It just looked like a bunched up piece of yarn. They make cute scarfs not flowers.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TUnzlMT1jMI/AAAAAAAAEjA/G1bMEZ_VVtc/s1600/b_closeup.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TUnzlMT1jMI/AAAAAAAAEjA/G1bMEZ_VVtc/s400/b_closeup.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5569250234505465026" border="0" /></a>Then I tried just regular plain old yarn. They make cute pom poms and I have plan for these else where.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TUnzkgPEdnI/AAAAAAAAEi4/didmiacdLfk/s1600/b_yarn.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 267px; height: 400px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TUnzkgPEdnI/AAAAAAAAEi4/didmiacdLfk/s400/b_yarn.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5569250222674310770" border="0" /></a>Then I found this warm and fuzzy yarn. I liked the color and I liked the fuzziness so I went with it.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TUnzkI5I2zI/AAAAAAAAEiw/eM24k7WZexY/s1600/b_pomflower.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TUnzkI5I2zI/AAAAAAAAEiw/eM24k7WZexY/s400/b_pomflower.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5569250216408308530" border="0" /></a>One cute little valentines flower. Welcome to New England. We must have had a very mild winter last year because this is getting ridiculous. I'm just glad that my child isn't in school yet because with all the snow days the kids around here are still going to be in school come The 4th of July. <br />Anyways back to the snow cream. What to do on a snowy day? Well if your me you want to put on multiple pairs of socks and warm fuzzy slippers and sip hot coco because your house is freezing cold (can't seem to get our house warm). If your my daughter you run around it your underwear and t-shirt asking for ice cream. What? Who's child is this. Well lucky for her I just learned about making ice cream out of snow and since we have plenty of freshly fallen snow I decided to go for it.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TT8IRO2l1sI/AAAAAAAAEd0/NO7NjOnFjZ0/s1600/b_yum.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TT8IRO2l1sI/AAAAAAAAEd0/NO7NjOnFjZ0/s400/b_yum.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5566176756591089346" /></a>So I leaned out my front door (because I was too lazy to put on shoes) and scooped some snow in a bowl. Then I added some sugar (~3 Tbsp) some cream (about 1/4 of a half pint I had left in the fridge that would be 1/8th of a pint or ~4 Tbsp) and then a dash of vanilla. It was that easy and it tasted just like real ice cream I was so surprised. If it is too runny just add some more snow. IF you can't tell I'm not good with recipes I just add a little of this and a little of that until it looks good. So if you are lucky enough to be buried by some freshly fallen snow go make yourself some snow cream.<br /><a href="http://mommycreations.blogspot.com/2010/09/tuesday-wednesday-thursday-friday.html"><br />Linking up with these lovely ladies.</a>Jessica Sorensenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18030863451272146572noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6307605209332536414.post-36373043969058920102011-01-23T16:27:00.003-06:002011-01-23T16:37:37.264-06:00Valentines Print ArtI saw on some show that print art was going to be big in 2011 so I thought I would jump on the band wagon. I don't know how to make a little download button (if you do feel free to tell me), but I think if you click on the image twice it will be the right size to print out your self or leave me your email in the comments and I will email you a copy.<br /><br /><a href="http://mommycreations.blogspot.com/2010/09/tuesday-wednesday-thursday-friday.html">Linking up here</a>.Jessica Sorensenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18030863451272146572noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6307605209332536414.post-14102231146375169382011-01-22T06:54:00.002-06:002011-01-22T06:59:09.121-06:00Flashback Friday: Felt Valentines PurseThis is the Valentines Purse I made my daughter last year and she loves it so I am sharing it again this year.<br /><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/S3QRPRE39GI/AAAAAAAADNM/oHMQuM4PQqU/s1600-h/b1_IMG_2902.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/S3QRPRE39GI/AAAAAAAADNM/oHMQuM4PQqU/s400/b1_IMG_2902.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5436989604122588258" /></a>I was putting together my daughters valentines for her playgroup the other day and decide she needed something to hold her valentines in. Since she is not in school with a desk to put a fancy valentines box on like we use to do in school, I decided to make her a purse that she can wear and carry her valentines in.<br /><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/S3QQtIKMr-I/AAAAAAAADNE/V-StOXMUsNY/s1600-h/b2_inside+purse.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/S3QQtIKMr-I/AAAAAAAADNE/V-StOXMUsNY/s400/b2_inside+purse.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5436989017613447138" /></a>I just used some felt I had laying around (must have bought it for something, but forgot what and it was all valentines colors so perfect). I cut out 3 large hearts and sewed the sides together. It was that easy. I added some ribbon for purse handles and a few extra little hearts to the front to dress it up a little.<br /><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/S3QQs299iaI/AAAAAAAADM8/GMAmD4iUNC4/s1600-h/b3_pursewval.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/S3QQs299iaI/AAAAAAAADM8/GMAmD4iUNC4/s400/b3_pursewval.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5436989012998719906" /></a>I did 3 hearts so that there would be 2 pockets. One for the valentines she was handing out and one for the valentines she was receiving.<br /><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/S3QQsZU9q6I/AAAAAAAADM0/XyW6HEJjjKM/s1600-h/b4_suckers.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/S3QQsZU9q6I/AAAAAAAADM0/XyW6HEJjjKM/s400/b4_suckers.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5436989005042133922" /></a>My valentines were very simple. Just glued an embossed pink heart onto some purple card stock ruffed up the edges added a little pink ink to the ruffed up edges and then stuck a sucker in them.<br /><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/S3QQsDCf0cI/AAAAAAAADMs/obKbuJTsbOo/s1600-h/b5_pencils.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/S3QQsDCf0cI/AAAAAAAADMs/obKbuJTsbOo/s400/b5_pencils.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5436988999059100098" /></a>And for the friends that can't have candy some valentine pencils.<br /><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/S3QQrU5O4_I/AAAAAAAADMk/j5MSmcYtTwY/s1600-h/b6_cheese.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 267px; height: 400px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/S3QQrU5O4_I/AAAAAAAADMk/j5MSmcYtTwY/s400/b6_cheese.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5436988986672210930" /></a>Addi loved her purse and wore it around all day. <br />Now just to decide what to do this year any suggestions?<br />Linking up <a href="http://mommycreations.blogspot.com/2010/09/tuesday-wednesday-thursday-friday.html">here</a>.Jessica Sorensenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18030863451272146572noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6307605209332536414.post-66866815054257146682011-01-08T08:34:00.004-06:002011-01-08T09:01:15.063-06:00Tulle Pom pom Balls-Tutoial<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TSh2vjTsgYI/AAAAAAAAEdc/E_04OCF_CLQ/s1600/b_pompom.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TSh2vjTsgYI/AAAAAAAAEdc/E_04OCF_CLQ/s400/b_pompom.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5559824299292656002" /></a>I had all this stuff to make some pom pom ornaments for my tree, but I never got to it. I never got to a lot of things I wanted to. That always seems to happen around the holidays. Anyways, I was browsing around blog land and saw <a href="http://diaryofacraftaholic.blogspot.com/2011/01/t-shirt-pom-poms-tutorial.html">these</a> pom poms made out of old t-shirts and thought hey I can make my Tulle Pom Pom Balls for Valentines instead of Christmas. Valentines Day is after all my favorite holiday. <a href="http://diaryofacraftaholic.blogspot.com/">Linda</a> probably has a better tutorial but here is what I did.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TSh2qNoWNyI/AAAAAAAAEdU/vvPzHWwfENQ/s1600/b_supplies.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TSh2qNoWNyI/AAAAAAAAEdU/vvPzHWwfENQ/s400/b_supplies.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5559824207574349602" /></a>You only need some tulle and cardboard templates (decorations on template not required unless you have a 2 yo helper like me). Oh and some scissors. If you don't have the tulle on a roll like this don't worry just cut your tulle into strips and it will work the same. The cardboard rings can be made into any size you want, but be careful the smaller you go the harder it is (I will show you how I made my smaller ones).<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TSh2p3Gwj4I/AAAAAAAAEdM/JRB5h_n1ldM/s1600/b_inbetween.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TSh2p3Gwj4I/AAAAAAAAEdM/JRB5h_n1ldM/s400/b_inbetween.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5559824201527889794" /></a>First place a piece of tulle (or string or yarn whatever you want it to hang from) between the 2 pieces of cardboard.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TSh2pqdXDfI/AAAAAAAAEdE/Ps9evDTSupE/s1600/b_windaround.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TSh2pqdXDfI/AAAAAAAAEdE/Ps9evDTSupE/s400/b_windaround.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5559824198133026290" /></a>Next just wrap the Tulle around the cardboard rings. I wrapped it around 3 times to get the fullness I wanted.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TSh2pRaNiPI/AAAAAAAAEc8/eBlsggo8kWw/s1600/b_wrapped.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TSh2pRaNiPI/AAAAAAAAEc8/eBlsggo8kWw/s400/b_wrapped.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5559824191408933106" /></a>This is what mine looked like, but you can wrap it as much or as little as you want its your craft. I also tied the 2 ends of the piece between the cardboard together to help hold it together for the next step.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TSh2o8YEhvI/AAAAAAAAEc0/hV05Suj3Y20/s1600/b_addihold.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TSh2o8YEhvI/AAAAAAAAEc0/hV05Suj3Y20/s400/b_addihold.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5559824185762809586" /></a>My little princess wanted in on the picture taking action. She was my helper after all.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TSh2dT9HDyI/AAAAAAAAEcs/gjMShkViDhI/s1600/b_cut.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TSh2dT9HDyI/AAAAAAAAEcs/gjMShkViDhI/s400/b_cut.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5559823985933750050" /></a>Next cut around the outside between the 2 pieces of cardboard. Make sure you pull your middle piece and hold down all the tulle to keep it from falling apart (this is why it is harder the smaller you go it falls apart more easily).<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TSh2dARQfyI/AAAAAAAAEck/hbFBDbBdif8/s1600/b_pompom.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TSh2dARQfyI/AAAAAAAAEck/hbFBDbBdif8/s400/b_pompom.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5559823980649545506" /></a>Once you have it all cut pull your piece in the middle tight and fluff up your pom pom. Now you can do whatever you want with them. I think I am going to make some sort of Valentines door hanger with them. We will see, but in the mean time they make cute little hair accessories. <br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TSh2c-nbGHI/AAAAAAAAEcc/5dmIRRoi-UE/s1600/b_addimc.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 267px; height: 400px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TSh2c-nbGHI/AAAAAAAAEcc/5dmIRRoi-UE/s400/b_addimc.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5559823980205643890" /></a>I just tied the pom poms on one of my daughters headbands. I liked the look of 2 pom poms of different sizes so I made a smaller one as well.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TSh2cign72I/AAAAAAAAEcU/GlRI_gy8uYI/s1600/b_wrapfingersmc.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TSh2cign72I/AAAAAAAAEcU/GlRI_gy8uYI/s400/b_wrapfingersmc.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5559823972660932450" /></a>For the smaller pom pom I just wrapped the tulle around my fingers, then I took another piece of tulle and tied it around the middle and cut the ends and fluffed just like the first one.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TSh2cETL4WI/AAAAAAAAEcM/dzWI6t0p68A/s1600/b_IMG_3118mc.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TSh2cETL4WI/AAAAAAAAEcM/dzWI6t0p68A/s400/b_IMG_3118mc.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5559823964551504226" /></a>There you go 2 cute pom poms to use in any way you want. Remember this can be done with many types of material. Tulle, yarn, old t-shirts whatever your heart desires.Jessica Sorensenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18030863451272146572noreply@blogger.com9tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6307605209332536414.post-8853237854964040632010-12-01T14:23:00.001-06:002011-01-02T20:12:03.253-06:00Christmas Ornaments and a gift exchangeMy Christmas tree is a little bare. Granted last year was the first year we had a normal size tree (it was our first Christmas as a married couple we spent at home and not traveling), so I decided that I would make a few ornaments this year. My first ornament was a vintage Christmas soldered ornament.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TPlSFoS03yI/AAAAAAAAEMo/87CgamP1HW8/s1600/b_solderornie.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TPlSFoS03yI/AAAAAAAAEMo/87CgamP1HW8/s400/b_solderornie.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5546554672752680738" /></a>I found some vintage Christmas images put them between 2 pieces of glass and soldered around them. Doesn't take much time, but cannot be done with little ones running around the solder gun gets very hot I even burnt my hair on accident. I did them the same way I made <a href="http://mommycreations.blogspot.com/2009/08/soldered-jewelry.html">this necklace</a> for my sister one larger. It is about the same size as a wallet sized picture and I think I am going to make some more with our family picture in them. <br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TPlSE7UiLaI/AAAAAAAAEMg/4A4TTNPGoZk/s1600/b_details.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TPlSE7UiLaI/AAAAAAAAEMg/4A4TTNPGoZk/s400/b_details.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5546554660680248738" /></a>To add a little flare to it I soldered 2 jump rings on top to thread ribbon through for handing and 3 rings on the bottom to which I added a little bling. I decided to give this particular ornament away to my homemade gift exchange partner.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TPlSE9GLJoI/AAAAAAAAEMY/QGREHNeHGZw/s1600/b_present.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TPlSE9GLJoI/AAAAAAAAEMY/QGREHNeHGZw/s400/b_present.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5546554661156890242" /></a>I also made her a couple of things to help her out with her 30 things before she is 30 list. I made a mini journal that she can carry in her purse (tutorial next week)and a beaded bookmark for those books she wants to read.<br /><br /><br /><a href="http://mommycreations.blogspot.com/2010/09/tuesday-wednesday-thursday-friday.html"><br />Linking up here</a>Jessica Sorensenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18030863451272146572noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6307605209332536414.post-32604053179030787612010-11-03T11:52:00.006-05:002010-11-03T13:27:00.242-05:00Yummy Gooey Chocolate Caramel Cake and other Birthday SurprisesLast month was my husbands 30th birthday. We wanted to do something special for the big day.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TNGUCr4e0qI/AAAAAAAAEMA/KWCcUEwW6M0/s1600/aaamc_cake.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TNGUCr4e0qI/AAAAAAAAEMA/KWCcUEwW6M0/s400/aaamc_cake.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5535368190875325090" /></a>Baby Girl and I made him a Yummy Gooey chocolate caramel cake as requested by the birthday boy, while Bubs so graciously took a nap. Scroll down for cake recipe.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TNGUCHwDWSI/AAAAAAAAEL4/vv_32fZyuzw/s1600/aaamc_worktreats.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TNGUCHwDWSI/AAAAAAAAEL4/vv_32fZyuzw/s400/aaamc_worktreats.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5535368181176293666" /></a>We also made yummy mini cupcakes and cake balls using same recipe to take to daddy's work.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TNGUByzgfnI/AAAAAAAAELw/Lzc5tl_ZlAE/s1600/aaamc_tablebb.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TNGUByzgfnI/AAAAAAAAELw/Lzc5tl_ZlAE/s400/aaamc_tablebb.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5535368175553642098" /></a>And then that night we had a surprise Birthday Party (that may not have been much of a surprise).<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TNGUBvTnH5I/AAAAAAAAELo/Q9M8kQbbdug/s1600/aaamc_centerpiece.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TNGUBvTnH5I/AAAAAAAAELo/Q9M8kQbbdug/s400/aaamc_centerpiece.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5535368174614552466" /></a>This was my center piece I made for our table and while it is Halloweenish I am still showing you because it could be adapted to any holiday. I made the lollies using this <a href="http://www.lilluna.com/2010/09/misc-monday-halloween-paper-centerpiece.html">tutorial</a>. And then just added whatever embellishments I wanted buttons, feathers, glitter, etc.The large sparkly glitter one was designed by baby girl. She wanted sparkles and googly eyes. I decorated the sticks with paint, ribbon or more glitter to match. The spiky balls were created by painting a Styrofoam ball (bought in a package at the dollar store) yellow and then hot gluing candy corns to them. Side story, my husband hates candy corn and when he saw the bag of candy corn on the table he freaked and said no one in his house was eating that crap (in a funny, but serious way). I had to inform him we would not be eating it I was using it to make decorations he was ok with that, just no eating of the stuff. I used another styrofoam ball and painted it black for a spider using black pipe cleaners for the legs. To keep all my skewers up right in the vase I filled it with my husbands favorite candy (he allows the eating of M&Ms and chocolate bars) too bad the candy only lasted for about a week then all my skewers tipped over, so maybe it is better to fill the vase with something non-edible.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TNGTyCXFrXI/AAAAAAAAELg/6gsrU5Qeh3E/s1600/aaamc_stands.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TNGTyCXFrXI/AAAAAAAAELg/6gsrU5Qeh3E/s400/aaamc_stands.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5535367904851504498" /></a>I also made these super easy super cheap stands for the food. I like to have my food at different levels on the table it gives more interest. Since I only have one cake stand and I was using it for the cake I took plastic plates and bowls from the dollar store then hot glued the bowls to the bottom of the plates some getting one bowl and some getting 2 creating the different platter heights. best part was the were cheap and disposable so I didn't have any extra dishes to wash, but it you want a fancier look you can do the same thing with real dishes.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TNGTx6GjKsI/AAAAAAAAELY/o68qdxHZwfI/s1600/aaamc_love.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TNGTx6GjKsI/AAAAAAAAELY/o68qdxHZwfI/s400/aaamc_love.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5535367902634650306" /></a><br />Happy 30th Birthday Sexy. I love You!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!<br /><br />Yummy Gooey Chocolate Caramel Cake<br /><br />Chocolate Cake<br /><br />1 box of your favorite chocolate cake mix<br />1 small package chocolate pudding<br />1/2 cup sour cream<br />1 1/2 cup milk (or half and half)<br />3 eggs<br />1/2 package mini chocolate chips<br /><br />Mix all ingredients and back in bunt pan for 50 min.<br /><br />While cake is backing prepare caramel gooeyness (made up word I know)<br /><br />1-cup (2 sticks) butter<br />2 cups packed light brown sugar<br />1/4-cup milk<br />1-teaspoon pure vanilla extract <br /><br />In a saucepan, combine butter, brown sugar, and milk. Cook and stir over medium heat for 3 to 5 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla. <br /><br />When cake is done baking remove from pan on to cake plate and pierce it multiple times with a straw, then pour the caramel over the cake. I do it a little at a time to let some seep into the cake before pouring on more.<br /><br />For the frosting (taken from Paula Deen)<br /><br />1/2-cup (1 stick) butter<br />1 cup packed dark brown sugar<br />1/3-cup heavy cream, or more if needed<br />1 (16-ounce) box confectioners’ sugar<br />1-teaspoon pure vanilla extract <br /><br />Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat and stir in brown sugar and cream. Bring to a boil, and transfer to a mixing bowl. Add confectioners’ sugar and vanilla. Beat with a hand-held electric mixer until it reaches a spreading consistency. At this time it may be necessary to add a tablespoon of heavy cream, or more, if frosting gets too thick. Just be sure to add cream is small amounts because you can always “add to”, but you can’t take away. <br /><br />For the cupcakes and cake balls I used the same cake and frosting. Cake balls were made by mixing the baked cake and frosting then forming it into balls and placing them on a cookie sheet. I then place the balls in the freezer for about an hour so they stick together. Then I dip it in melted chocolate and stick them back in the freezer to harden. (If you google cake balls I am sure you can find a more detailed recipe for cake balls if you prefer. Maybe someday I will do a detailed tutorial.)<br /><br />Happy Baking and checkout these <a href="http://mommycreations.blogspot.com/2010/09/tuesday-wednesday-thursday-friday.html">linky parties</a> for more inspiration.Jessica Sorensenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18030863451272146572noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6307605209332536414.post-48019387796356372512010-10-15T17:23:00.005-05:002010-10-15T17:50:20.823-05:00Trick Your Pumpkin<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TLjVILBhHII/AAAAAAAAEIs/SIvvPoJ06fQ/s1600/IMG_9542.JPG"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 267px; height: 400px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TLjVILBhHII/AAAAAAAAEIs/SIvvPoJ06fQ/s400/IMG_9542.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5528402878972107906" border="0" /></a>See that boring old pumpkin from the dollar store? I had lots of ideas, glitter, mod podge lots of options, but ultimately decided on chalkboard paint.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TLjUoUJlxDI/AAAAAAAAEIU/Cj9QB4Jrakg/s1600/TYP_PAINT.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TLjUoUJlxDI/AAAAAAAAEIU/Cj9QB4Jrakg/s400/TYP_PAINT.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5528402331666072626" border="0" /></a>There are so many different colors to choose from. You can see past years dresses <a href="http://mommycreations.blogspot.com/2008/10/apple-t-shirt-dress.html">here</a> and <a href="http://mommycreations.blogspot.com/2010/09/flashback-friday-apple-pickin-dress.html">here</a>. It wasn't necessarily my intention to make this a tradition, but after making dresses 2 years in a row and seeing this very cute corduroy at Joann's I thought why not and this is what I came up with.<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TLR1Fc_yJPI/AAAAAAAAEIE/6MWlznD1IvU/s1600/ad1_skirt.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TLR1Fc_yJPI/AAAAAAAAEIE/6MWlznD1IvU/s400/ad1_skirt.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5527171379233957106" /></a>Isn't it cute? I thought so and decide that some of you might think so too so I am going to attempt a tutorial.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TLR1FAOQg5I/AAAAAAAAEH8/ph2Gq37kPp4/s1600/ad2_fabric.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TLR1FAOQg5I/AAAAAAAAEH8/ph2Gq37kPp4/s400/ad2_fabric.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5527171371510039442" /></a>You will need about 1/2 a yard (depending on your size I made a 2T) of 2 coordinating fabrics. I used a printed corduroy and matching solid color cotton.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TLR1E3Lj3iI/AAAAAAAAEH0/9paob9jJoX0/s1600/ad3_fabric2.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TLR1E3Lj3iI/AAAAAAAAEH0/9paob9jJoX0/s400/ad3_fabric2.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5527171369082805794" /></a>To get the right size measure your child's waist size (19 in for me). Also measure from waist to knee, or however long you want the skirt and add an inch(mine is 12 in). Now that you have your measurement cut either one piece twice as long as your waist measurement by your length measurement (this will make one seem in back)or cut 2 pieces your waist measurement by length measurement (creates to seems on side). You will do this for both of your materials.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TLR1Eu6GU_I/AAAAAAAAEHs/A_rr-dT7clw/s1600/ad4_sew+together.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TLR1Eu6GU_I/AAAAAAAAEHs/A_rr-dT7clw/s400/ad4_sew+together.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5527171366862083058" /></a>Now take the right side of the pattern material and match it up with the wrong side of your solid material then sew it together. Now you have one big piece (or 2 big pieces). Next sew the sides together by folding the piece long ways so that the right side of the pattern material and the wrong side of solid material are on the inside. Sew up the side. If you have 2 pieces then just line them up on top of each other and sew up both sides. You should now have a tube. Now fold the pattern material over the solid material. You now have a tube with right side of pattern material on out side.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TLR08JisweI/AAAAAAAAEHk/_IIFQHl6UfA/s1600/ad5_topstitch.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TLR08JisweI/AAAAAAAAEHk/_IIFQHl6UfA/s400/ad5_topstitch.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5527171219392872930" /></a> Top stitch near top where you sewed the to types of material together. This will keep the material in right orientation. The bottom should have to raw edges the pattern material and solid material. Hem these separately, hemming the pattern material shorter so that the solid peeks through under the pattern.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TLR078mPEvI/AAAAAAAAEHc/UEDVjtv62mQ/s1600/ad6_pleats.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TLR078mPEvI/AAAAAAAAEHc/UEDVjtv62mQ/s400/ad6_pleats.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5527171215918043890" /></a>Now we are going to pleat the front. Make a mark in the center of your front panel then make a mark every 2 in. Use these marks to help you make your pleats even. I made three pleats on either side of my middle mark. Sew your pleats down by sewing a straight line across all pleats about an in or so from top.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TLR07aJraXI/AAAAAAAAEHU/A1Hn--d6K6M/s1600/ad7_elastic.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TLR07aJraXI/AAAAAAAAEHU/A1Hn--d6K6M/s400/ad7_elastic.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5527171206671460722" /></a>For the back I cut a piece of elastic half the size of my back panel and stretching it across the length of the back panel sew it on about an inch from the top. <br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TLSB97dy-2I/AAAAAAAAEIM/tpf2LwLIAXs/s1600/ad1_skirt.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TLSB97dy-2I/AAAAAAAAEIM/tpf2LwLIAXs/s400/ad1_skirt.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5527185543625112418" /></a>Now you have a skirt. For the cute little pink belt I just sewed a tube of material the length I wanted turned it inside out and sewed the ends closed. I tied the belt over were I sewed the pleats and elastic down. This made it so there is sort of a ruffle sticking out over the top. So, this skirt is meant to be worn with a shirt that is tucked in.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TLR065BITrI/AAAAAAAAEHM/whnJ0fAoJY0/s1600/ad8_doll.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TLR065BITrI/AAAAAAAAEHM/whnJ0fAoJY0/s400/ad8_doll.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5527171197777235634" /></a>Since I had scraps and since my daughter informed me that her doll only had PJs I made the doll a simple little matching skirt.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TLR06VXFsvI/AAAAAAAAEHE/vMf9Xr7j3dM/s1600/ad10_dolltut.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TLR06VXFsvI/AAAAAAAAEHE/vMf9Xr7j3dM/s400/ad10_dolltut.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5527171188205662962" /></a>You can make the doll skirt the same way or simplify it like I did. I measures The dolls waist and cut apiece of elastic that size. I then sewed 2 strips of the pink material on either side of the apple material that was twice as long as the elastic (or piece scraps together to make a piece twice as long as your doll's waist)<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TLR0SLtwILI/AAAAAAAAEG8/EDBeVCe-QAE/s1600/ad11_sewinditch.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TLR0SLtwILI/AAAAAAAAEG8/EDBeVCe-QAE/s400/ad11_sewinditch.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5527170498421596338" /></a>Sew your loose ends together forming a tube. Then fold your 2 pink strips under and sew in the ditch as shown in picture. One side is now the bottom him and the other is the top where you will insert elastic and sew together. <br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TLR0RxCy57I/AAAAAAAAEG0/UWQO0QNokY8/s1600/ad12_skirtdoll.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TLR0RxCy57I/AAAAAAAAEG0/UWQO0QNokY8/s400/ad12_skirtdoll.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5527170491262101426" /></a>So there is a simplified matching doll skirt tut. I hope it makes since. <br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TLR0RqS9zMI/AAAAAAAAEGs/WjU9PUPcIws/s1600/ad13_clip.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TLR0RqS9zMI/AAAAAAAAEGs/WjU9PUPcIws/s400/ad13_clip.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5527170489450876098" /></a>Once you have your outfit you are ready to go pick apples. I also made a little clip by cutting out one of the apples and gluing it to a clip.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TLR0RGqDhOI/AAAAAAAAEGk/0lVuM8weI4U/s1600/ad14_aidan.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TLR0RGqDhOI/AAAAAAAAEGk/0lVuM8weI4U/s400/ad14_aidan.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5527170479884043490" /></a> My husband was making fun of me when I felt bad I hadn't made Aidan an outfit. He said "because Aidan is going to look back on these pictures and feel bad he did have an outfit." sarcastically of course. So just in case he did look back I appliqued some apples on an onsie so they were matching.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TLR0Q7sqDQI/AAAAAAAAEGc/Q8STq4amX4k/s1600/ad15_addi.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TLR0Q7sqDQI/AAAAAAAAEGc/Q8STq4amX4k/s400/ad15_addi.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5527170476942167298" /></a>There you have it an apple skirt, matching doll skirt, clip and onsie all in one, perfect for an afternoon of apple pickin'? A fabulous tasting cupcake that looks impressive and if I do say so these Hi Hat cupcakes are just that.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TKvFjE59CiI/AAAAAAAAEGQ/ZtXHZbsYXsc/s1600/hhIMG_9353.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TKvFjE59CiI/AAAAAAAAEGQ/ZtXHZbsYXsc/s400/hhIMG_9353.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5524726574302956066" /></a><br />These come from <a href="http://www.marthastewart.com/recipe/hi-hat-cupcakes">Martha Stewart</a> however I did not follow that recipe (if you haven't figured it out yet I don't like following recipes). I don't know how those cupcakes taste, but mine were delicious, toot, toot (that's me tooting my own horn). Here is my chocolate cupcake recipe. Its super easy<br />1 chocolate cake mix<br />1 small box instant chocolate pudding<br />1 1/2 cup milk<br />1/2 cup of sour cream<br />3 eggs<br />1/2 bag mini chocolate chips<br /><br />Just mix it all together and put it in your cupcake tin and bake at 375 for 20 mini (less time if making mini cupcakes longer if making a cake)<br /><br />I ate many of these cupcakes before I even frosted them they were that good.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TKvFihMOpzI/AAAAAAAAEGI/1ORQEchj-oU/s1600/hhIMG_9350.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TKvFihMOpzI/AAAAAAAAEGI/1ORQEchj-oU/s400/hhIMG_9350.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5524726564715931442" /></a><br />This delicious looking frosting was made using the recipe from marthastewart.com. The frosting was pretty good, but my husband thought it was too sweet and it was a little grainy. I have been thinking if I could make a light weight frosting like this using powder sugar so it wasn't so grainy. Oh, and since I was serving these to children and a pregnant lady I used meringue powder instead of egg white (just look on container for substitution amounts).<br />I placed the frosting in a zip lock bag and cut the tip off and piped it on the cupcake as high as I could. <br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TKvFibQDUuI/AAAAAAAAEGA/hfV7g3zkgac/s1600/hhIMG_9365.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TKvFibQDUuI/AAAAAAAAEGA/hfV7g3zkgac/s400/hhIMG_9365.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5524726563121353442" /></a><br />So make a delicious chocolate cupcake top it with sweet light frosting and then dip it in chocolate how could it get any better than this. I found the mini cupcakes easier to dip.<br /><br />My two year loved helping me make this for her friend Caleb's birthday party at playgroup. Caleb's mommy is pregnant, been there done that with a toddler and knew making cupcakes is not always what you want to do with your free time, eating them yes that I liked to do when pregnant. The day of the party it was raining and I was trying to get inside with a toddler, baby and a platter of cupcakes. I gave the cupcakes to the toddler who held onto the cupcakes with both hands instead of holding onto the stroller and with me moving a little faster to get out of the rain lost the toddler with the cupcakes off the stroller. Addi was more devastated by the few cupcakes we lost to a puddle in the parking lot than her scrapped knees.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TKvFh5Xd7jI/AAAAAAAAEF4/aNDKxe4DV14/s1600/hhIMG_9364.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 267px; height: 400px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TKvFh5Xd7jI/AAAAAAAAEF4/aNDKxe4DV14/s400/hhIMG_9364.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5524726554025651762" /></a><br />These cupcakes took a little more time then normal, especially the frosting, but they were fun and oh so delicious. I'm weird about decorating to soon for holidays. I hate when Holidays get skipped, like did you know that there is already Christmas stuff up in the store? What happened to Halloween and Thanksgiving? Anyways, in case you missed this over at Under the Willow here is my first Halloween decoration I made this year. <br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TKnjl5tclCI/AAAAAAAAEFw/kT52MGOvXJU/s1600/sIMG_8882.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 267px; height: 400px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TKnjl5tclCI/AAAAAAAAEFw/kT52MGOvXJU/s400/sIMG_8882.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5524196658232726562" /></a>All supplys came from the Dollar Store a vase, a candle stick, plastic skulls and some peat moss. <br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TKnjlh3vYBI/AAAAAAAAEFo/dGtGVN0LxgE/s1600/s_IMG_9537.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 267px; height: 400px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TKnjlh3vYBI/AAAAAAAAEFo/dGtGVN0LxgE/s400/s_IMG_9537.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5524196651833450514" /></a>I put mine on my entry way table along with other Dollar Store finds (I love the Dollar Store).<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TKnjlA-AHGI/AAAAAAAAEFg/4zIpBMcZyKc/s1600/s_spiderIMG_8879.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TKnjlA-AHGI/AAAAAAAAEFg/4zIpBMcZyKc/s400/s_spiderIMG_8879.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5524196643001343074" /></a>Adding spiders and webs to things can make anything look spookier. I cover everything in my house in spider web at Halloween time, just make sure you remember where you put it or you will look up months later an realize your clock is still covered in spider webs.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TKnjkVE1Z9I/AAAAAAAAEFY/Ww2Bp8mlRi8/s1600/s_picture.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_I3NfGudET84/TKnjkVE1Z9I/AAAAAAAAEFY/Ww2Bp8mlRi8/s400/s_picture.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5524196631218841554" /></a>I love this fun picture. I think I'm going to re-frame it in a real frame so it looks more like a real picture and not just a Halloween decoration. <br />Check out my post at <a href="http://underthewillowprims.blogspot.com/2010/09/vases-arent-just-for-flowersblog-swap.html">Under the Willow</a> to see how you can your new vase stand for other holidays as well.<br /><br /><a href="http://mommycreations.blogspot.com/2010/09/tuesday-wednesday-thursday-friday.html">Sharing the Linking Love<br /></a>Jessica Sorensenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18030863451272146572noreply@blogger.com4
