Can you guess what this is?

Can you guess what this is? I planned on posting about this particular thing today, but took my daughter to the pool instead so you will all have to wait a little longer (I know you are all dying to know what it is). My mother is excluded from guessing since she helped me with it while she was here. I better exclude my sisters as well since we probably told them about it so that leaves about 2 of you left to guess unless there are more of you out there who don't comment. If you are a blog stalker and want to take a guess I will do a drawing for something made out of my left over material from this project. Also if you haven't already, follow me on facebook (click on like on my facebook tab in the left column of my blog), because when I make it to 50 fans I will do a drawing for a special homemade prize. (It will be good I promise just haven't decided what yet)

Hard Days and Notebooks

Today was one of those day. One of those days when you just want to lock yourself in a closet and forget you have any responsibilities. Please tell me I'm not the only that has days like that. Well when your responsibilities include a 2 yo and a newborn it's not really possible to lock yourself in a closet and forget about them. Well at least for very long, that would be child neglect. Don't get me wrong I love my kids and am very grateful I get to stay home them. Who wouldn't when your kids look like this.
I think I'm still getting use to being a mother of 2 and I know my 2 yo is still trying to adjust to not being the center of attention. Her latest way to get attention is to act like a baby herself. She tell strangers at the grocery store "I 3 months old". When she is being particularly hard I need to remember how sweet she really is and if that fails I just break down and cry and she shows me her sweet side by bringing me a tissue and giving me a hug.

A great way to remember those sweet tender moments in your child life is to write them down and even better write them down in a pretty little notebook like this one.

They would also make great notebooks for your kids to go back to school in style. I always stock up on composition notebooks when they are on sale for back to school. I made these 4 Christmas' ago for all my nieces and nephews and then again last year as part of a craft swap. They make great last min gifts because they don't take very long. You can cover them in paper or fabric. I used decoupage to secure the paper to the notebook. Maybe one day I will have more time to put together a tutorial with tips and secrets I've learned from making them.

Check out all the notebooks with matching accessories I made for the craft swap last year. Anyone up for a virtual craft swap? It would give me something to do while I'm locked in the closet.

Back to School ideas

I can't believe the summer is about over and that kids are back in school. My kids aren't in school yet so it isn't that big of deal, but I am starting a Joy School once a week for my2 yo with a couple of friends. There are so many great back to school ideas out there. I love all the cute lunch box notes out there. A nice little note of love in your lunch could brightens anyone's day.
Like these cute printable love notes that you can download for free here.
Or these adorable fruit notes available here.

If you need a lunch sack for them to go in check out fireflies and jelly beans reusable sandwich bags and lunch sacks.

For those of you with preschoolers like me that are learning their alphabet checkout these flash cards that Homemade by Jill made.
and for fun back to school crafts that your child can mae check out these.

My Latest Creation and a New Found Motivation

My latest creation has taken up much of my time lately(thus the lack in blogging since Mother's Day). This creation took me 9 months to produce and has got to be my favorite since the last one that took 9 months.
My baby boy Aidan. (more pictures at Mommy creations Photography)

Along with this new creation comes sleepless nights and much time to think. It was actually almost exactly 2 years ago when I was up in the middle of the night with my first that I though of the idea and name of this blog. At the time I didn't realize that everyone had a crafty blog and many of them are much more diligent in posting then I am, but I am ok with that since this was just an outlet for my creativeness and so I wouldn't bore the readers of my family blog with all my craft projects.

Well fast forward 2 years to another late night. I am watching "Julie and Julia" with both my boys (my husband and my newborn) a sleep on me and I am thinking to myself I should get back into blogging. I like blogging it gives me something to do for myself and gets me to finish projects I have started so I can blog about them. So why did I decide to start on the blogging in the middle of the night when everyone is asleep and I too should be sleeping. Well after the movie I was cleaning my kitchen, because I can no longer go to bed without a clean kitchen, both a blessing and a curse, but more on that later, and I thought well why wait I should start blogging tonight, so here I am blabbing on about blogging making sentences that are way to long and probably not grammatically correct, but who cares its my blog right?

So here is to a new blogging season. Who know maybe I can actually get some readers this time. That would be good since some of my new ideas require people to actually be reading this blog (more of those ideas also to come.

Well my new little creation is now awake and calling for me. Hope to see you all soon!
